In Memoriam
Scott Brady
(1961 - 2025)
Longtime ASC member Richard Q. Bourn, Jr. passed away in August. He was a lifelong archaeologist who made significant contributions to the archaeology of the region. His work proved invaluable during the excavation of a nearby site in Old Saybrook. The quality and breadth of his research were impressive, particularly his publication, The Ferry Road Site (ASC Bulletin 58), which comes highly recommended for review. He was known to have shared his expertise generously, including guiding visits to archaeological sites near the Connecticut River alongside his brothers, Cameron and Edson. Richard’s knowledge played a key role in advancing local archaeological efforts. In addition to authoring numerous articles, he served as ASC Bulletin Editor from 1976 to 1978. His obituary is included in this newsletter for those who wish to remember him.
